Thirteen members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 900 participated in a Florida Association of Police Explorers Delegates meeting in Coral Springs on January 17-18, 2009. On Saturday the Explorers had the opportunity to receive scenario training with topics including, a 911 hang-up resulting in child pornography charges, a noise complaint resulting in trespassing and drug possession charges, and a disturbance complaint involving counterfeit money. They also had the chance to reacquaint themselves with Explorers from across the state. The day culminated with a dodge ball tournament at the Coral Springs Charter School.
On Sunday, Eleven members of Post 900 competed in a pistol match. Explorer Melinda Mujidzic placed fifth and Explorer Matthew Sauter placed first in the Tyro Division. Explorer Nathan Mowatt placed third in the Marksman Division. Explorer Rachel Davidson placed second and Explorer Michael Metzger placed first in the Sharpshooter Division. Explorer Thomas Garmon placed first in the Master Division. And Explorer Joshua Davidson received the overall match champion trophy. Not only did we score exceptionally well as individual shooters, but the team, including Explorers Matthew Sauter, Michael Metzger, Thomas Garmon and Joshua Davidson, received the first place team trophy as well. Congratulations Post 900!
These travel opportunities have given members of Explorer Post 900 the chance to experience training provided by other agencies. The trips also help reinforce each participant’s individual skill, strengthen the bond among our post members, and build friendships that will last a lifetime. We appreciate the consistent support of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office as we seek to provide the best experience possible. |
